try the NYT archives query.nytimes.com with reviews of many older titles he illustrated and seems to(i do not subscribe to view articles) include early exhibitions and perhaps social events he attended and an obit or maybe detroit(nativity) news archives for obit which I couldn't access at all. I was looking at edith hamilton's mythology when I too got curious about him. the illus look very deco-ish.

Thanks T,
This is quite fascinating and makes me more interested to request the copy of Bridgson's adaption. Does anyone happen to know if there are archived audio files of the play online? I have found a reference to a set of audio cassettes at Univ of Victoria (see: http://library.uvic.ca/site/spcoll/findaids/2007-001.html ), which indicates that the three sections of the work were adapted for the radio plays, but I am keen to hear them!

Bridson's adaptation of The Childermass for the BBC Third Programme was instrumental in getting Lewis to take up his neglected 1928 novel (which was pblished as 'Part I') and write the other 2 volumes, though unfortunately he left only sketches for the final volume The trial of Man.

Great Post! I have been a Crumb fan and collector for many years and this his art is masterful. I own several original pieces in my collection and am always on the hunt for more! Can't wait until his Genesis comes out.
